Kārātoyaa from Sanskrit means stream of consciousness pouring out of the Creator’s hand

ABOUT

Kārātoyaa was born out of passion for beauty and love to our Planet. Through every piece we celebrate human creativity and joy of Being.

We work with rare historic and antique textiles sourced from across the world — from Guatemala and Peru, Ghana and Ivory Coast, India and Pakistan, the Swat Valley and Uzbekistan, the Philippines and Indonesia, Luang Prabang and Japan, and beyond. These fabrics are brought into new life through one-of-a-kind kārātoyaa creations

Each fabric has been created using ancient techniques of weaving, hand painting, printing and dying techniques, for that they carry ancient DNA and are impossible to replicate today.

Created using ancient techniques of weaving, hand painting, printing, and natural dyeing, each textile carries material knowledge and cultural memory that cannot be replicated today.

Whenever new materials are introduced, whether for garments or packaging, they are of natural or organic origin, handwoven and naturally dyed. We work closely with small artisan communities and family-run ateliers, supporting skilled craftsmanship and continuity of traditional knowledge.

STYLE

Kārātoyaa reconsiders habitual codes of dressing. All styles are gender-neutral and designed with a relaxed, generous fit, allowing freedom of movement and self-expression.

Each piece is made to be lived with — cared for, worn over time, and experienced fully. Intentionally created to affect the state of the bearer, the garments are designed to invite expansion, presence, and a elevate the state of awareness. They are conceived not as neutral clothing, but as forms capable of shaping experience.

Every Kārātoyaa creation is one of a kind and cannot be copied or reproduced. The clothing range is structured around twelve core patterns, each rooted in ancient traditions of dress and translated for the present. Combining multiple historic textiles within these forms requires time, precision, and great experience of our creative team and tailors.

All Kārātoyaa fabrics have lived through generations and may carry visible traces of their past. We consider these marks not as flaws, but as added value — signs of continuity, heritage and meaning embedded in the garment.
