SAMURA.036
Oversized SAMURA nomad bag is a perfect companion on your inter-dimensional and other kind of journeys. This bag features vintage Lakai embroidery from northern Afghanistan.
Lakai embroidery was produced by Lakai prople - semi-nomadic tribes occupying areas of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Northern Afghanistan. Lakai panels are characterised by dense counted stitching, cross-centred, stepped geometric compositions, strict axial symmetry, and a controlled palette of red, indigo, yellow, black, white, and muted green.
These panels were made for bags, covers, saddle and domestic furnishings, and functioned as durable, protective textiles. Motifs follow a highly standardised graphic system transmitted through practice rather than fixed symbolic codes. Afghan Lakai work is distinguished by its architectural clarity and disciplined geometry, setting it apart from neighbouring Uzbek, Turkmen, and Tajik traditions.
