SAMURA.049
Oversized SAMURA nomad bag is a perfect companion on your inter-dimensional and other kind of journeys. This bag features vintage Traditional cross-stitched embroidery from Carpathians, Ukraine.
Ukraine has a long history of embroidery tradition going back hundreds of years. Each region has their own style, motives and technique.
Abstract geometric patterns originated in ancient times, long before painting existed in its modern form. To depict what they desired, people used special symbols—lines, zigzags, crosses, diamonds, circles, triangles, and many others. Ancient people understood the meanings of these symbols, but today we can only speculate about their significance based on scholarly hypotheses.
Folk artisans have preserved these ancestral geometric symbols, passing them down through their embroidery to their children and grandchildren. Traditional motifs are composed of these ancient symbols and are given descriptive names based on their appearance, such as "little combs," "curls," "curly patterns," "ram's horns," and so on. Some symbols, like the "infinity" or "curved line," can even be found on artifacts from the Trypillia culture. There are also motifs considered transitional between geometric and floral designs, such as stars and rosettes that resemble the sun with rays spreading outwards, as well as the "tree of life"—a very ancient symbol, now stylized in modern embroidery as branches with leaves.
This particular bag has Carpathian cross-stitch work in vibrant colours with geometric patterns.
