This one of a kind garment is reversible and unique from each side.
Relaxed fit long kimono style coat Matsu is crafted from vintage handwoven naturally dyed cotton from Bagru in one side and vintage kalamkari Buddha cotton from another.
Hand Weaving : It is the ancient practice of manually interlacing warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) threads to create fabric. This craft offers diverse textures, achieved through different weaving techniques like plain weave, twill, or satin. Material selection, such as cotton, silk, or wool, impacts the fabric's characteristics. Skilled weavers control tension and thread arrangement to create intricate patterns and colors, making hand weaving a versatile and visually appealing textile art.
Kalamkari : It a traditional Indian art form that involves hand-painting or block-printing intricate motifs on fabric. Natural dyes sourced from plants and minerals produce a wide range of colors. In freehand Kalamkari, artisans use a bamboo or palm stick (kalam) to paint designs directly onto the fabric, while block-printed Kalamkari utilizes hand-carved wooden blocks for motif application. Themes often draw inspiration from mythology, nature, or cultural heritage, featuring meticulously detailed motifs with fine outlining. Achieving vibrant multicolored designs may require multiple dyeing stages, involving precise dye application.
