Relaxed fit long kimono style belted coat Matsu is crafted from vintage hand embroidered Bukhara Suzani from Uzbekistan and khadi silk from ?  and vintage handspun Warli art wool  on the other side.

Suzani is a traditional type of embroidered and decorative tribal textile of Central Asia. There are several varieties of Suzani work originating from different areas. From Persian سوزن, Suzan, which means needle. The art of making such textiles in Iran is called Suzandozi سوزن‌دوزی  - the needlework.  Suzanis usually have a cotton (sometimes silk) fabric base, which is embroidered in silk or cotton thread. Chain, satin, and buttonhole stitches are the primary stitches used. A common  technique is couching , where decorative thread is placed on the fabric in raised lines and secured with a second thread. Suzanis are typically crafted from two or more sections that are later stitched together. Common design motifs include sun and moon disks, that symbolize Cosmos and the passage of time,  flowers such as tulips, carnations, and irises, leaves, vines, fruits (particularly pomegranates – symbol of fertility ), as well as occasional depictions of fish and birds.

Historically, Suzanis were used as dowry items for brides and were passed down through generations as cherished family heirlooms. Today, they are highly valued as works of art and are popular in home décor.

Warli Art:
This indigenous art form is deeply rooted in the culture and traditions of the Warli community located in Maharashtra, India ~ With its origins believed to be connected to their rituals and celebrations. What sets Warli Art apart is, its simplicity and symbolism. Traditionally created by the women of the tribe, this art form consists of intricate geometric patterns and motifs depicting scenes from everyday rural life, nature, and folklore. Using only white pigment made from rice paste and bamboo sticks as brushes, Warli artists adorn mud walls, floors, and even cloth with their timeless designs.
