Tussar Silk : It is a luxurious fabric woven from the silk produced by silkworms that feed on oak and juniper leaves. What sets it apart is its natural golden sheen and textured surface, making it a unique and prized silk variety. This distinctive texture is a result of the silkworms' irregular spinning patterns and their preference for feeding on a variety of leaves. As a result, Tussar Silk boasts an organic, slightly nubby surface that adds character and depth to the fabric, making each piece one-of-a-kind. This charming uneven texture enhances the tactile and visual appeal of Tussar Silk. Tussar silk is often known for its durability and is used to create exquisite textiles, prized for its rich, earthy tones and lustrous appearance.
Hand Block Printing : It is an ancient Indian textile art form where skilled artisans carve intricate designs onto wooden blocks. These blocks are then dipped in dyes and meticulously stamped onto fabric, creating beautiful and repetitive patterns. It's a labor-intensive process that results in unique, handcrafted textiles, each telling its own story.
Khes Weaving: It is a traditional craft deeply rooted in the Swat region of Pakistan. It utilizes natural fibers like cotton or wool, handwoven on traditional looms. Khes is woven on a traditional handloom, often by skilled weavers in rural areas. The process involves using two sets of yarns: the warp (lengthwise) and the weft (crosswise), which are interwoven to create the fabric. The most iconic feature of Khes is its checkered or plaid patterns, which are created using contrasting colored threads. The checks are usually large and bold, giving Khes its signature look. The pattern can vary from simple two-tone checks to more complex multi-colored designs, depending on the region and the weaver's skill. Khes textiles have a deep connection to the cultural heritage of Swat. It has traditionally been used as a shawl or wrap by both men and women, especially in rural areas. Men often wore Khes as a part of their daily attire, particularly in winter, while women used it as a covering during special occasions or daily chores.
