This shirt is crafted from vintage kantha work silk in Kalamkari technique and abstract design print at the back.

Kantha embroidery, originating from West Bengal, India, is a traditional craft characterized by intricate hand-stitching. It is original textile upcycling process - artisans employ simple running stitches to create beautiful and elaborate patterns on fabric, often using recycled sarees or other discarded textiles. The stitching adds a unique texture to the fabric, as well as creates new design patterns. The craft has deep cultural roots, with Kantha pieces historically being crafted by women to tell stories, depict myths, and express personal narratives. Today whole communities of women in India, that usually work from home, survive thanks to this amazing craft. 

Kalamkari:
An ancient Indian craft celebrated for its intricate hand-painted or block-printed designs on fabric. The term "Kalamkari" translates as "pen work," highlighting the use of a pen-like tool for freehand drawing or filling in intricate details. Originating from the regions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, this traditional art form often depicts mythological themes, floral motifs, or narrative scenes.
The process involves treating the fabric with natural dyes, creating a canvas for skilled artisans to bring their designs to life.
