Relaxed fit long kimono style coat Matsu on one side features traditional Korhogo art work from Cote D'Ivoire in applique technique over handwoven cotton from Wardha, Maharashtra. The other side of the coat is vintage hand screen reverse printing with geometric pattern. 

Korhogo cloth is a traditional textile crafted by the Senufo people of Korhogo, Ivory Coast. It is created on handwoven cotton fabric, featuring hand-painted designs made using natural pigments and fermented mud, which darken with age. The motifs commonly depict humans, animals, and celestial elements, each carrying distinct cultural meanings.

The production of Korhogo cloth is a collaborative process. Women spin cotton into yarn and prepare the dyes, while men weave the fabric and apply the intricate designs. Historically, these cloths have been used for clothing, home decor, and ceremonial purposes. They are also believed to ward off vengeful spirits, making them significant in both functional and spiritual contexts.

Hand Screen Printing: Screen printing, a versatile printing technique, has a history dating back over a thousand years, with its origins traced to ancient China. However, it gained prominence in the modern era during the early 20th century, particularly with the development of photo-reactive chemicals and synthetic materials.

The process involves using a mesh screen to transfer ink onto a substrate, such as fabric, paper, or wood. Each color requires a separate screen, allowing for intricate multi-color designs with precise registration. This technique is favored for its ability to reproduce vibrant colors and fine details consistently.
